Lake Oconee Log Homes, Inc. was formed to represent BK Cypress Log Homes of Bronson, Florida in the Eastern part of Georgia, particularly around the Lake Oconee and Lake Sinclair areas. I spent three years researching the 200 plus log home companies in Amercia before I chose BK Cypress to be the supplier for my own log home here on Lake Oconee. They use only Tidewater Red Cypress, a slow growing species with a tight grain, which is extremely insect resistant (60 year warranty), has minimal shrinkage and unlike many other types of logs utilized in log homes, is chemically inert. My wife wanted a home that would be non-traditional- light, airey, bright but one which has character and a lake "feel" to it. The design staff at BK worked with us over for over a year while we modified plans to create the perfect home for us. We utilized various features of the textures and grains of the wood combined with stone and shakes to vary the visual appeal of the home.

After working with the people at BK for over a year, I realized that they truly were unique: from their 'family atmosphere' to the cypress logs. I not only wanted a log home , I wanted to bring their product to others who can appreciate the lasting beauty of cypress logs in this area. While currently aquiring property in the area, my master plan is to design and sell not only individual homes ,but to also develop small log homes 'communities' of 10 plus houses around the lake. These developments will offer uniquely different designs with no two houses being identical while reflecting enduring beauty, durability and stability available only with Tidewater Red Cypress."
